Teletoon has ordered a 13 x 30 run of The Dating Guy from marblemedia and Blueprint Entertainment, which have hooked up on the teen- and adult-aimed cartoon, set to air on the cable channel's Detour block late next year.
The project has been in development since last year at marblemedia, which brought in CORE Digital Animation to work on its look and feel. CORE is no longer attached, and marble is looking for a Canadian animation partner to bring the series to the screen, according to a spokesperson.
The project marks marblemedia's first foray into animation, though its new partner, Blueprint, has turned out titles including The Wrong Coast and Iggy Arbuckle. John Morayniss and Frank Saperstein at Blueprint will exec produce with marble partners Matt Hornburg and Mark Bishop.
The main character of the series is said to be based on Bishop. "We're bringing in an amazing team of people for this show," he said in a statement. International distribution will be handled by Blueprint through Oasis International.
