Award winning Toronto based production company Boat Rocker Media Inc. is currently seeking a talented and ambitious professional to direct the business affairs and production financing of the companys kids & family, factual, scripted and digital divisions. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of business affairs and production financing experience in the industry as well as excellent communication skills and the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee all development and production financing
Advise on funding structures and incentive availability
Review and negotiate development and production financing, licensing and distribution agreements
Liaise with broadcasters, distributors, funding agencies, CRTC/tax credit authorities, outside counsel and accountants
Oversee other members of the Business Affairs and Production Financing team
Negotiate and draft development and production related agreements such as talent, producer, and creator agreements
Monitor, research and advise management on talent guild matters, tax credits, legal and regulatory matters and funding agency requirements
Oversee all interim financing
At least 5 years of experience in the entertainment industry with a specific focus on business affairs and production financing
Superior knowledge of conventional and digital funding bodies as well as CRTC regulations and tax credit policies are mandatory
Exemplary relationships and strong familiarity with media financiers in Canada (eg. CMF, Rogers, COGECO, The Bell Fund, OMDC, tax credit agencies, etc.) as well as broadcasters and distributors
Must be well organized, detail-oriented, efficient and have the ability to prioritize
Must have ability to handle multiple tasks and meet conflicting deadlines in short timeframe
Ability to work independently, manage workload, prioritize and take initiative
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
Superior written communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues simply, clearly and tactfully
Excellent people skills and ability to work as part of a team
