Applications are invited for the position of Professor, Television in the School of Media Studies at the Welland Campus. This position commences in August 2019.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, this challenging and diverse role requires the successful candidate be responsible for designing and delivering post-secondary curriculum related to all aspects of Mobile and Live-to-Air Television production.
The Professor position is responsible for providing academic leadership and developing an effective learning environment for students. This includes designing, revising and updating courses/curriculum; teaching assigned courses; consulting with stakeholders (faculty, community and industry partners); defining course objectives and evaluating student comprehension of objectives; leading a production driven learning; and providing individualized, production based instruction. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Required qualifications include:
A post-secondary advanced Diploma or Degree in a related discipline
Eight (8) years of recent professional television production experience
A background in all elements of pre-production, production and post-production
Strong technical skills and experience in television production in multi-camera mobile and studio environments, in addition to a working knowledge of ENG cameras and newsmagazine production
Experience executing a variety of types of live productions both in studio and on-location is essential
Preferred candidates may also possess:
Working experience with High Definition Video, Premiere, Avid, Photoshop and After Effects
Demonstrated project management skills
A working knowledge of new distribution technologies such as streaming and distribution via YouTube
An ability to adapt curriculum to meet needs of rapidly changing broadcast industry
A positive and encouraging team-player with good communication skills and problem-solving abilities
Three (3) years of previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level along with curriculum design experience, professional affiliations, ongoing industry contacts, and a passion for student success
Extensive experience in mobile productions
